新西蘭打工渡假之Dunedin自駕遊1

第一次自駕遊, 就選了Dunedin(但尼丁), 離皇后鎮大約三小時的車程。

但尼丁, 是南島的第二大城市，僅次於基督城。據說現在的主要收入是來自University of Otago, 學生大約有二萬人。另外由於這是南島的第二大城市, 商店比較多, 所以很多年青人會特意來Dunedin shopping。

  Albatross信天翁, 是現存鳥類中翼展最大的，它的平均翼展可達3.1米，被證實的最大的漂泊信天翁的翼展達到了3.7米, 也是一種瀕臨絶種的海鳥。幾百年來, 水手們都認為在海上見到信天翁都像徵著好運。
  其中漂泊信天翁一次繁殖只生一個蛋，蛋是白色，上面有斑點，大約10厘米長。在繁殖季節，它們會在南冰洋的島上佔領一些鬆散的領地來築巢並且繁育後代。

Baldwin Street是一條短而直的街道，

總長約350米

爬坡之水平距離約161.2米

底部爬到頂有69.2米高

最斜一段的斜度比率1:2.86

自1988年起的每年夏天（通常在2月），都會在這條街道舉行競跑比賽（Baldwin Street Gutbuster）

每天都有很多遊客慕名而來, 記得當天也有對來自加拿大的年長夫婦前來參觀, 但因為丈夫腿不夠好, 不能親身感受, 幸好剛巧有居住在這Baldwin Street的居民回家, 為了表現好客之道, 即埸開車表演了極速走上這全世界最陡峭的街道, 然後極速下滑回家給我們見識一下, 哈哈, 其實這樣子很傷車的! 但這Baldwin Street 兩旁仍然住了很多居民, 相信他們會因為住在這而感到自豪!

• Larnach Castle located on the Otago Peninsula is New Zealand’s only castle.

 
這座Larnach Castle的原本的主人是William James Mudie Larnach, 澳洲人。由Larnach Family 到現在的主人Barker Family期間, 有很多人曾經擁有過這Larnach Castle，而這Larnach Castle也曾經用作瘋人院和醫院等。

直至1967 Margaret and Barry Barker購買了這座Larnach Castle，他們用了很多精力和研究為城堡進行恢復到原本嚴格的標準，而花園經由Margaret Barker創作而煥然一新。現在Larnach Castle再次成為Dunedin首屈一指的地標。

• Otago Girls’ High School was one of the first state run secondary schools for girls in the world.

 女校就無去到啦，但我們去了有一百五十年歷史的男校。
 

自駕遊後記

我們一同四人, 但只有一位有車牌的朋友, 哈哈, 最記得車手朋友話, 你地輪住聊我傾計呀!長時的高速公路上好易訓著嫁，結果, 可能係我眼訓得制, 我問到語無倫次, 見到咩就問咩, 點解d草生成咁ge? 哈哈!
 

說真的很佩服我朋友, 第一次在新西蘭渣車, 沒有GPS, 只有在Information center拿的地圖，加上路上的指示, 最後順利到達目的地。

真的很懷念一起走過的日子呢！
